Gold Coast Youth Orchestra

The Gold Coast Youth Orchestra is a non-for-profit community organisation. Since 1969 our undertaking has been offer the young musicians of the Gold Coast quality musical experiences through unique performance opportunities, thereby creating an environment in which they can achieve their musical potential

Our Aims:

We aim to equip our young musicians with all the necessary skills required to be valuable member of an orchestra or band, including:

Technical abilities in the areas of a sense of pitch and intonation awareness

An understanding of balance within the orchestra

A passion for orchestral repertoire and performance at a high level

Orchestral etiquette

Development and maximisation of musical potential

The participation in a music group will leave our young musicians with worthwhile skills in adult life, including:

• Life long love of music

Our Methods:

The Gold Coast Youth Orchestra helps to expand and enhance the learning of ensemble and orchestral skills with worthwhile musical experiences through:

• Annual intensive ‘Music Immersion Weekend’
• Workshops with other groups, orchestras, schools and professional performers
• Tutorials with recognised music educators from the region
• Commitment and dedication of our conductors
• Education through encouragement and enjoyment
• A varied range of concerts and recitals
