23rd IAVE World Volunteer Conference

IAVE at the GCCECThe Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC) will welcome the 23rd International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE) World Volunteer Conference in September.

More than 1,000 delegates are expected to converge on the Gold Coast to explore the overarching theme of “Volunteering, Today’s Imperative” over the four-day event.

The 23rd IAVE World Volunteer Conference will give delegates the opportunity to learn from and network with distinguished international speakers and expert trainers, as well as leaders from the international volunteering community, governments and the corporate sector.

A Youth Forum which is expected to attract more than 300 delegates will be held separately on the Gold Coast before the commencement of the World Conference from 17 to 20 September held at the GCCEC.

Having recently celebrated ten years of operation the Centre has worked tirelessly on lifting and promoting the destinations profile in conjunction with industry partners including Gold Coast Business Events (part of Gold Coast Tourism Corporation). Through efforts to increase the regions appeal to an international audience, the partnership has resulted in joint bid wins including the upcoming World Volunteer Conference which trumped Mexico for the host city honours.

Queensland was considered a fitting location to showcase volunteering: recent events including the devastating floods of 2011 showcased the dedication of local communities and individuals who collectively formed a strong showing of 80,000 volunteers who stepped up to help when needed without any thought of reward.

Over 50 percent of the delegation will travel from overseas with the conference estimated to inject $3 million into the Gold Coast economy.
