Unlike conventional modular housing that requires specialist and costly transport, qbModCon is much the same as the familiar flat pack furniture that has become a staple "pack 'n go" format around the world.
Following the assembly of the steel framed floor, (4 people) every item in the qbModCon inventory is designed to be lifted easily by two people. This means that with a team of just 3-4, your qbModCon home will be fully assembled to lock up in just 5 days on your site.

QbModCon introduces the concept of true “Flat Pack” housing. Minimising shipping costs whilst providing a high quality and durable house that meets the needs of Australian families and achieves the highest “green” status.

qbModCon houses are especially suitable for remote locations. 1 container = 1 house (45 sq/m). All that is needed on arrival is the pouring of foundations around the pre-built powder coated elevated steel flooring followed by rapid assembly of the aluminium frame and structural insulated panels for walls and roofing.

Australia has a demonstrable demand for this type of house, the requirement to upgrade and increase the number of quality homes for Australian communities coupled with the strong demand for these homes to cater for mining communities ensures a vigorous and healthy demand for the foreseeable future.

What was required were twofold;

1: Refinement in the assembly procedure especially with regard to interiors and ease of construction with non skilled labour.

2: Reduction in manufacturing costs.

Following a number of investigative and extensive trips, Timpatico has established its supply lines in South East Asia.

This has taken the path of involvement with Queensland and Federal governments facilities and services in creating valuable introductions and participation in trade shows and delegations both locally and overseas.

Our initial concentration will be on meeting the needs of indigenous housing, especially in remote areas where our concept of 1 container = 1 houses coupled with comprehensive training for assemblers will ensure market acceptance.

qbModcon has excellent prospects for further growth in other market sectors with an emphasis on our primary advantages which includes flat pack delivery reducing the need for special transportation and heavy lifting equipment on site.

It is expected that by close of business in FY 2010, we will have taken a 10% share of remote indigenous housing and made inroads into other remote communities including the mining sector.

• qbModCon houses begin with a steel floor frame supported on steel pillars embedded in concrete piers poured onsite.

• The flooring consists of termite and fire resistant cement/wood sheet that is coated for durability.

• The framing consist of propriety aluminium extrusions that support the Structural Insulated Panel (SIP) walls.

• The use of aluminium extrusions greatly simplifies and strengthens the structure.

• The SIP consists of a sandwich of steel external and internal sheeting permanently bonded during manufacture to a semi rigid polyurethane core.

• Internal walls which are not structural, consist of similar SIP panel that is connected via a unique cam operated locking mechanism.

• The roof is of a similar SIP construction with the addition of externally sheathed Colorbond style sheeting. The roof sheets are fitted to ridge and hip beams of formed propriety aluminium extrusions supported by fabricated steel trusses.

A qbModCon house reduces the overall cost of housing in remote areas from around $2,000 per sq. m (ref addendum 1) to around $A1,500 per sq m inclusive of installation, electrical and plumbing and kitchen and bathroom fit out.
