MACULAR DEGENERATION
Now also known as ‘AGE RELATED MACULOPATHY’ or ARM. Early detection can help in assessment of whether NEW  drug treatments can slow this progressive disorder. Regular eye examinations are the key.

GLAUCOMA
This condition occurs when high fluid pressure in the eye causes nerve damage. This then prevents visual information being transferred from the retina to the brain. Early detection can prevent serious damage BEFORE symptoms occur. People over 40 and those with a family history of Glaucoma are AT RISK.

STUDY SPECS
Many people associate reading spectacles and bifocals with the failing sight of an older adult. Some people also think that glasses are used only to make things seem clearer for people who are shortsighted or long -sighted. Reading spectacles and bifocals can be worn for other reasons.
Many children and young adults benefit from wearing spectacles to help them maintain normal eye co-ordination, without effort for prolonged close work. A good example of this kind of work is reading in class or studying after school. Spectacles for this purpose are called reading or study spectacles. They reduce fatigue and confusion and improve concentration.

CHILDREN
Is your child not responding at school, or struggling for no obvious reason? Eliminate the obvious and ensure he or she is able to perform to their ability. Have your childs vision tested and save everyone a lot of unnecessary tears. Ideally, bring them in before starting school.

DRY EYE
People with dry eye will usually complain of one or more of the following symptoms: •blurred vision •sore or stinging eyes •sandy/gritty or scratchy eyes •foreign body sensation •burning •sensation of dryness •persistently WATERY eyes •red eyes •decreased tolerance to contacts.
