As Gold Coast City Council plans for a strong and prosperous tomorrow, the communities of Rainbow Bay, Coolangatta and Kirra are invited to “imagine our future”.
Together with Connecting Southern Gold Coast Ltd, Council today launched a community visioning process to guide future planning for the three communities. Local representative, Councillor Chris Robbins said a clear community vision would inform both Council and industry, helping to ensure their actions were aligned with what the community wants.
“The communities of Rainbow Bay, Coolangatta and Kirra each have their own distinct characteristics and personalities that we want to preserve and enhance,” Cr Robbins said.
“We’re asking property owners, residents, businesses and the community of interest who frequent these three north facing beach communities what they love, what they wish they could change and what they think would make our local area an even better place to live, work, play and invest.
“Council will use this feedback to create a “vision” for the future; a bold statement of how we want our community to look and feel, so it remains a place that locals love to live and visitors will never forget,” she said.
Jim Wilson, General Manager of Connecting Southern Gold Coast said the visioning exercise was important to the future lifestyle, tourist profile and investment and job creation of the three villages.
“This is the time for the local community to own the process,” he said.
Because everyone expresses themselves differently, submissions are invited in a variety of forms: write a letter, a poem or a short story, sing a song, draw it, paint it, photograph it, film it… however you feel inspired.
