Absynthe Dessert Degustation The Sweetest Thing

ABSYNTHE French restaurant in Surfers Paradise is introducing their Dessert Degustation menu, the ultimate sweet tooth experience.

Available Monday to Saturday until 10pm, diners can now enjoy a glass of dessert wine or cognac and sample several varieties of desserts in the cosy ambience of the Melbourne-esque eatery.

Diners are invited to be tantalised by the award-winning restaurant’s sweet delights, including the signature ‘yoghurt bubble’, combining rich cured yoghurt, liquid chocolate and pineapple sorbet, be seduced by the seedless passionfruit soufflé or indulge the senses with a Tahitian vanilla bean crème brulee with poached strawberries and orange tuile.

As a separate outing, or the finale to a fabulous dinner at Absynthe, owner and head Chef Meyjitte Boughenout said he wanted to provide an after-dinner option for diners with a difference.

“We want people to be aware that they are welcome to come to Absynthe and enjoy an after dinner drink or dessert,” said Meyjitte.

“People often want to enjoy a night cap, coffee, or something sweet after dinner or an evening out. At Absynthe you can enjoy both. We have a variety of special desserts that are sure to satisfy even the sweetest tooth.

“Many people don’t realise they can come in for dessert only, and similarly, many people don’t realise we have a fully-licensed lounge bar.”

The experience of flavours is complemented by Meyjitte’s lifetime collection of wines and exclusive cognacs.

Patrons are invited to soak up the atmosphere at the bar or enjoy matching wines from a cellar that boasts over 1200 labels, including rare vintages from the 1970’s – 1990’s.

Set back from street frontage at the bottom of the Q1 building, Absynthe’s alluring ambience of moody lighting and chic décor adds to the sensual dining experience.

Open for pre and post dinner drinks, Absynthe’s bar menu is also available serving appetisers until 12am. Meyjitte said guests are welcome to sink into one of the comfy leather lounges, savour a fine drop and watch the world walk by.

“I receive great pleasure in sharing my knowledge and passion for fine wines and fine foods with people,” said Meyjitte.

“Here at Absynthe, it’s all about the food, but it’s also about our great wines.”

Absynthe is located at Shop 4, Q1, Gold Coast Highway, Surfers Paradise and is open for a la carte or degustation dinner from Monday to Saturday from 6:00pm. Dessert degustation menu available Monday to Saturday until 10pm. For further information, please phone (07) 5504 6466 or visit www.absynthe.com.au.
