Big names announced for 2013 Blues Festival

Ian Moss, Vanessa Amorosi, Jon Stevens, Joe Camilleri, Russell Morris, Prinnie Stevens and Mahalia Barnes are just some of the big names who will perform at the 2013 Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival.

The festival will celebrate 12 years in 2013 and organisers Broadbeach Alliance along with major supporters Events Queensland and the Gold Coast City Council are aiming to take the event to the next level.

CEO of Broadbeach Alliance Jan McCormick promises the 2013 festival will deliver some of the best artists in the country, whilst remaining completely free to attend.

“The Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival continues to grow every year and with the line-up we are about to present we believe people will fly from across the country to be a part of this incredibly unique event.”

The 2013 festival will showcase Australian and international artists on outdoor stages and in venues throughout Broadbeach on the Gold Coast.

“Apart from being free, what is so unique about Blues on Broadbeach is that you can book a table at one of the restaurants or an apartment in Broadbeach and soak up the festival atmosphere and in some cases even see the main stages from the comfort of your table or balcony” said Mrs McCormick.

The Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival has become a signature Gold Coast event winning the Queensland Tourism Award for ‘Best Festival & Event’ in 2011.

Minister for Tourism, Major Events, Small Business and the Commonwealth Games, Jann Stuckey, welcomed the announcement.

“Blues on Broadbeach has grown to become one of Australia’s highest profile Blues festivals, attracting around 85,000 visitors this year,” said Ms Stuckey.

“The Newman Government is proud to support events like this as part of our goal to double overnight visitor expenditure to $30 billion by 2020.

“That is why we are investing $49.6 million in major, regional and business events through Events Queensland in 2012-2013.”

Chief Executive Officer of Gold Coast Tourism, Martin Winter says the Gold Coast is famous for its variety of tourist attractions, and must also develop a diversity of events which have either the size or the uniqueness to attract visitation from outside the city for the benefit of local business.

“Events such as the Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival play a significant role in the life, economy and overall image of the City, creating a complementary variable to the fun, excitement and sense of adventure the Gold Coast is renowned for. This event has certainly become a part of the cultural fabric of our great City” said Mr Winter.

The Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival 23-26 May 2013, no tickets are required to attend.
