Love What We Do at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre

What do you love to do?  Perhaps its yoga on a Sunday, a stroll on the beach or cooking for friends.

At the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC) it’s everything we do for our clients from the smallest ingredient that goes into our meals to hosting a capacity crowd at an unforgettable concert.  The key is passion and the rest comes naturally.

‘Love What You Do; We Do’ is the motto for the GCCEC’s new ad campaign set for release in early February.

GCCEC General Manager Adrienne Readings said audiences should expect something new and different from traditional venue advertising.

“The creative thinking behind the concept of this inspiring campaign is to remind our past clients of how good their experience at the Centre was and to put us on the forefront as a venue of choice for those who haven’t experienced our service,” she said.

“These ads move away from the conventional brand building standard which typically shows the venue advertised and lists all its great assets and achievements.

“This campaign on the other hand is something emotive, something a little bit quirky and something that we think people can really connect to.

“There is a strong emphasis on what sets us apart from our competitors including positioning GCCEC not as a building but as people who will make it happen.

“Love What You Do” features 7 new ads reflecting the Centre’s destination, service, flexibility and size, among others, addressing key market segments through powerful imagery and references.

“GCCEC is optimistic about the positive results that this campaign is expected to generate for the Centre within our domestic and international markets,” Adrienne said.

Case Study: Kate’s Ceremonies

How a featured listing has worked for Kate Guiney, Gold Coast Marriage Celebrant

The wedding industry on the Gold Coast is big, with our beaches, resorts, golf clubs and hinterland escapes making the Gold Coast a prime destination for a perfect wedding day. The popularity of the Gold Coast coupled with high demand for wedding-related services, the industry has become highly competitive, particularly for civil marriage celebrants.

The Gold Coast Directory alone has over 70 listings in the Marriage Celebrant category, and ranks in the number 1 position in Google for Gold Coast Celebrants. Kate Guiney, wedding celebrant and member of the directory, knows all too well how difficult it is to be found in Google when there are so many others competing for the same keywords and market.

Her website couldn’t be found, and she needed an affordable solution that didn’t mean spending thousands of dollars on a new website, Yellow Pages listing or other expensive online advertising options.

Since upgrading her listing in the Gold Coast Directory for just $29 per month in October 2010, Kate has received over 40 referrals from the directory to her website, with over 400 views of her listing during this time. Not only is her listing placed above the other 70 celebrants in the directory, it also replaces Google Ads on listings in the Weddings category.

The Next Generation In The Fellini Kitchen

MEET the father/ son duo behind the award winning cuisine at Ristorante Fellini.

Fellini has always been a family business. Owned and operated by the Percuoco family and partners Raffaele Di Benedetto and Richard Burt, the Fellini team are now seeing the fifth generation begin the journey within the Fellini kitchen.

Richard Burt has been Fellini’s executive chef for the past 14 years. Working alongside fellow executive Chef Anna Cacace, his impressive career at Fellini has seen Richard win a string of industry awards including ‘Signature Dish of the Year’ and the opportunity to cook at the ‘Five Chefs for Queensland’ event among others.

Now, under the guidance of his father, Richard’s son Jason is entering the industry to pursue a chef career of his own.

Jason has grown up watching his father work in the food industry and has witnessed the exquisite culinary creations his father has created. Having had a taste of what a cooking career might offer, Jason started in the Fellini kitchen at the age of nine when he would go in on school holidays assisting his father with the basics of cooking and food preparation.

Now at the age of 21 and having completed his apprenticeship, Jason has moved up in the kitchen and is now creating the dishes Fellini is famous for, alongside his father.

Jason enjoys the variety that working at Fellini gives him and the opportunities he has working in the kitchen, but when it comes to work, his father is very much boss.

“Dad is like any executive chef and pushes his employees to strive for their best,” said Jason.

“He expects nothing but perfection when it comes to what leaves the kitchen.”

Content to be working at the Coast’s most coveted Italian restaurant for now, Jason also has ambition to take his hard earned skill overseas.

“I enjoy what I am doing right now. I don’t have a favourite Fellini dish, it is hard to pick just one that I enjoy cooking or eating, the menu is fantastic to work with,” he said.

“But my goal is to one day go overseas and possibly work in America.”

Dad Richard said he was hesitant to let his son enter the food industry at first, having already experienced the lifestyle and hours that go into becoming a chef. He admits he originally tried steer Jason away from the idea because of the hard work involved with this type of career choice.

“I understand the work and the hours that go into becoming a chef,” said Richard.

“I have been in the industry for 30 years now. I did try and steer him away from the industry, but this is what he wants and I am proud of him.

“It is a tough industry but a rewarding one and I am happy to have my son working in the kitchen with me. I treat him like other employees trying to push him to the best he can be.”

Like all fathers, Richard wants nothing but the best for his son and for now he is happy to have him in the kitchen with him at Fellini.

Fellini’s menu draws upon influences from varying Italian regions with a strong focus on Neapolitan cuisine.

The restaurant has won more than 100 industry accolades since its conception at Marina Mirage 14 years ago.

Modern Italian cuisine backed by generations of traditional family cooking ensures the multi-award winning restaurant retains its ever-growing popularity and credibility on the Gold Coast.

Ristorante Fellini is located at Marina Mirage, Main Beach on the Gold Coast. More information can be found on www.fellini.com.au or by calling (07) 5531-0300.

Stage Eight At Seabreeze Now Released

NEWLAND DEVELOPERS, a division of the Metricon Group, has now released the highly anticipated Stage 8 of the $200 million Seabreeze Estate, meeting the current demand in Pottsville.

Following the sell out of stage 14 Newland Developers are now in a position to release stage 8 for the first time to the market.  Stage 8 consists of 30 lots which will be released in three stages with the first, stage 8A, comprising eight lots.

Stage 8 contains some of the last remaining lots in the Seabreeze master planned community with blocks ranging in size from 630 to 826 square metres.

Construction has now commenced with settlement expected in June 2011.

Newland Developers Development Manager Dale Scotcher is pleased to be able to offer more land in Seabreeze to meet the steadily increasing population growth.

“Research by Tweed Economic Development Corporation (TEDC), confirms that the Tweed Coast is one of the fastest population growth areas in NSW, with a current population of 90,000 people.

“Newland Developers have been developing Seabreeze for 10 years now so we are excited to launch Stage 8 for the first time to the market, which will provide a solution to current land shortage issues,” said Mr Scotcher.

“Stage 8A has some of the best blocks in the development and with Prices ranging between $255,000 and $285,000, Seabreeze presents the ideal combination of location and value.

“Seabreeze not only offers affordable house and land packages, but also an opportunity to belong to a friendly neighbourhood and community with everything a family could wish for. All this located just a short bike ride from the beach and with easy access to a range of picturesque walkways and sporting fields.”

Seabreeze project marketing agent Lance Cotterill from North Estate Agents said the release of stage 8 is important for Pottsville, offering some of the last available and best value land on the Tweed Coast.

“The release of Stage 8 will offer an opportunity for buyers who missed out on the last release of land in stage 14,” said Mr Cotterill.

“As land continues to be snapped up in the region and with very little coastal land available, we expect huge interest in stage 8A with more and more people longing for the unique lifestyle that Seabreeze offers.  With so many house and land package options, purchasers will have the freedom to custom design their own package.

“We are now seeing more and more residents of the Seabreeze community live in Pottsville for the peaceful, coastal lifestyle and travel to work on the Gold Coast with the improved access via the Tugun by-pass.

“Purchasers at the Seabreeze development love the fact they can live in the quiet, village atmosphere of Pottsville with no high-rises or traffic while being located only a short drive to Tweed Heads, Kingscliff and the international Gold Coast Airport.

“We expect to see land values in the Tweed region continue to rise with the population growth.”

Seabreeze is located on Pottsville-Mooball Road, Pottsville Beach. The 97-hectare development includes spacious landscaped parklands and sports playing fields. The estate is a short stroll from the Pottsville town centre which is home to restaurants, cafes, retail shops and other shopping facilities.

Locals Sniff Out Investment Opportunities At Riva Vue

LOCAL investors are embracing Newland Developers  $23 million Riva Vue as the Murwillumbah estate promises a strong investment opportunity.

A total of 51 blocks of land have now been sold from a dominant buyers market being driven by investors from the Murwillumbah and Tweed regions.

Equally as interesting is the fact that according to a recent market research report conducted by Metricon, more than half (56.5 per cent) of all buyers are from the Murwillumbah community, signalling a strong vote of confidence in the development.

Riva Vue has been hailed as the perfect investment option, offering buyers the unique opportunity to purchase a house and land package within one of the strongest growth areas of the Tweed Coast, while still being able to enjoy the country lifestyle.

Newland Developers development manager Dale Scotcher said it was a ‘no brainer’ as investors can buy a new house and land package for less than they would for an existing home in the area.

“Investors are realising that it’s cheaper to purchase a new house and land package than to purchase an existing, older home in the area, and those who purchase now can enjoy the benefits of capital growth as demand for the development and Murwillumbah continues to grow,” said Mr Scotcher.

“Investors are looking for the perfect combination of price and location in order to reap returns and we believe Riva Vue offers all of the above and more.”

Marketing agent Lance Cotterill of North Estate Agents, said Riva Vue offered buyers the best value for money in terms of future capital growth due to its close proximity to the town centre and breathtaking views across Mt Warning.

“We have experienced many enquiries from the community, with local residents looking to invest in a new home in a modern development set to reap returns, yet still located within the idyllic surroundings of Murwillumbah alongside the Rous River,” he said.

“More than 95 per cent of all enquiries through the sales office have originated from the local market including areas as far south as Byron Bay and as far north to the Gold Coast.

“Each block is well appointed to capture the unique aspects of the environment surrounding this development, and the location is perfect with just a short walk to the town centre, schools and sporting fields.”

The launch of Stage 3A features a variety of land configurations to suit all variations of home designs. The latest stage offers buyers the choice of 15 spacious flat blocks and six sloping blocks ranging in size from 639sqm to 1010sqm.

Riva Vue land prices start from just $165,000 or $359,955 for a new house and land package. The estate allows buyers the freedom to choose the perfect block of land to suit their individual lifestyle requirements.

The estate, located off Barnby Street, Murwillumbah, in far north NSW, covers 24.5ha within the heart of the Tweed Valley.

For further information about the Riva Vue development please contact Lance Cotterill from North Estate Agents on 1800 047 146 or visit www.rivavue.com.au.

Rooftop Garden First Of Its Kind For Australia

AS ONE OF the largest rooftop gardens in the southern hemisphere, Serene Living’s rooftop garden is proving a unique asset for the over 55’s development, generating huge interest, as the first of its kind on the Gold Coast.

Paving the way for rooftop gardens across Australia, Proda’s Serene Living is the first over 55’s development on the Gold Coast to feature a rooftop garden of this scale.

The innovative rooftop garden at Serene Living will be Australia’s largest green rooftop with over a quarter of an acre of perfectly manicured, landscaped gardens.

Complete with organic vegetable gardens and blossoming trees, the spacious rooftop sanctuary features three barbeque areas, separate entertaining spaces, ample lounge chairs, comfortable seating and shaded picnic areas, complimented by the panoramic, picturesque views of the Tweed surrounds.

Green Roofs Australia President Sidonie Carpenter says rooftop gardens like the one to be developed at Serene Living, are the future for leading property developers on the Gold Coast and Australia wide.

“It is great to see green roofs being designed for specific applications and in the case of Serene Living the social and physical needs of the residents as opposed to the regular environmental design intent that is typical of green roofs,” said Mrs Carpenter.

“The commitment to designing and building a green roof to the standard seen in this development is to be congratulated.

“The social design focus for Serene Living has obviously generated a greater interest in unit sales to become the fastest selling over 55’s development in Australia. This is a credit to Proda for including a green roof, meeting the requirements for Seniors Living and providing an aesthetic and safe environment for residents.

“Where we see green roofs being removed from developments due to issues such as maintenance we see Proda install 200mm2 of turf and 1300m2 of garden, clearly with an understanding and commitment to the upkeep and vigour of the gardens while providing invaluable outdoor recreation spaces.

“I congratulate Proda and see them as leaders in the Australian Green Roof industry.  It is projects like Serene Living that will support and encourage the growth of the Green Roof industry in Australia.”

Leading Landscape Architect from Planit Consulting Samantha Baird, who designed the Serene Living rooftop sanctuary, describes the garden as a secluded retreat.

“We haven’t designed for a rooftop of this scale before. Given that the majority of high rise roof top space is taken for services so the garden at Serene Living will be a unique example of how you can cleverly work around such infrastructure and achieve a modern oasis that will set the standard for future rooftop garden projects,” Ms Baird said.

“Our vision for the rooftop garden was to create a tranquil and inviting garden haven for all residents and their guests to sit back, relax and soak up the lush surrounds in style.”

The theme of the garden will centre around natural beauty highlighted by a flourishing mix of 2000 individual plants.

These will include native and non indigenous shade trees, shrubs and flowering plants to provide colour against the deep green hedges, including hibiscus, banksias, birds of paradise, magnolia little gem, blueberry ash and even olive trees.

The theme of natural beauty will be echoed through integrated metal art installations accented with scented climbing jasmine vines, which double as protective screening, transforming practical, structural features into living, growing art.

The garden will also include three integrated water features including a trickling, reflective pond to evoke a tranquil ambiance. As night approaches, metal water cut sculptures in the form of 2.4 meter tall columns, will transform and light up from within. These columns will become giant lanterns providing a soft evening glow.

Another point of difference for this garden is its unique features like the giant insitu granite chess board complete with matching chess pieces for residents to enjoy, adding character and personality to the design.

The garden will create a sub tropical sensory experience for residents with the perfect combination of flora and fauna, emulating a natural yet dreamlike environment. Nectar and pollen producing plants like bottlebrush and hibiscus will be utilised to attract a mixture of native and exotic birdlife such as rainbow lorikeets, wood doves and rose breasted cockatoos creating a relaxing and tranquil, natural environment for residents.

“This garden is designed to be a retreat for residents where they can sit back and relax in one of many reclining lounge chairs with a favorite book, play a game of cards with a friend under one of the four pergola covered retreats, or potter around in the vegetable gardens,” Ms Baird said.

The low maintenance vegetable gardens are designed for residents to tend to and will house a combination of vegetables and herb varieties from cherry tomatoes and chillies to basil, rosemary and chives, for the shared enjoyment of all residents.

Proda director Ben Fuller said the inspiration for the garden oasis was to create a place that would add joy to the residents’ daily life.

“Our rooftop garden is designed to be a sanctuary for all residents providing them with their own personal paradise, the perfect spot to entertain visitors or grandchildren and enjoy the pristine, uninterrupted views of the Tweed and its picturesque surrounds.”

“We spent a lot of time in the research and development of this garden and enlisted the help of leading Landscape Architects to ensure that our residents can enjoy the best of the best.

“We are thrilled with the response from future residents, all eager to experience the garden for themselves and exercise their green thumbs.”

The over 55’s resort-style development is set to revitalise the Tweed CBD, promoting an active and social community lifestyle for residents.

Serene Living comprises 77 spacious apartments with one plus study (which can double as a second bedroom), two and three bedroom ensuite apartments, ranging in size from 70 to 130 square metres with generous balcony spaces.

Along with the rooftop garden, the up-market project will offer more than 50 services and facilities, including a luxurious cinema, library, residents’ club car, heated pool and spa, gymnasium, games room and innovative smart home wiring technology, ensuring the safety and security of residents.

The sales office is on-site on the corner of Florence Place and Florence Street, Tweed Heads. For further information please phone 07 5599 3328 or visit www.sereneliving.com.au .
